Week 9

 Container Home

This week we discussed some progress with our container homes. For my container home I’d like to build it in a rural location, close to many trees and perhaps a water source. I’m thinking that my client is going to be a younger couple. My hopes for concept is to combine country and luxury in my design. I’m thinking multi terrace, lots of outdoors space, and combination of materials such as wood, steel, and glass. I think I want to use about 3-4 containers for my project and separate the levels by occupancy. I want to have the ground level be public space and have area to entertain guests. I want the upper level to be more private spaces such as bedrooms. I’m really excited for my upcoming progress on bubble diagrams and to dive further into my design! I will share photos of my precedent studies as well as my inspiration photos below.

Sketching Assignment

This week we learned more about sketching with markers and the importance of contrasting shadows and colors. Contrast allows sketches to be more realistic and achieve greater depth. We also learned more about the volume of a sketch and making sure that objects are proportionate so they will be seen accurately. Color schemes are also important when sketching with markers, there are four color schemes: Monochromatic, analogous, complementary, and triad. For my sketch below I choose to use a blue monochromatic scheme. I like the scheme I choose, it feels very relaxing. I’m a little disappointed in my craft this week because I injured my drawing/ writing hand recently and it has been challenging to write and draw.
