 Container Home This week we discussed some progress with our container homes. For my container home I’d like to build it in a rural location, close to many trees and perhaps a water source. I’m thinking that my client is going to be a younger couple. My hopes for concept is to combine country and luxury in my design. I’m thinking multi terrace, lots of outdoors space, and combination of materials such as wood, steel, and glass. I think I want to use about 3-4 containers for my project and separate the levels by occupancy. I want to have the ground level be public space and have area to entertain guests. I want the upper level to be more private spaces such as bedrooms. I’m really excited for my upcoming progress on bubble diagrams and to dive further into my design! Principles of Design  Gina Christopher  Rhythm is needed to enhance an interior space. Rhythm can be found in a repetition of colors, textures, shapes, or patterns. Rhythm really helps your eye move throughout the space seamlessly. The types of rhythm are repetition, gradation, contrast, transition, and radiation. Repetition occurs when an object, shape, texture or color is repeated in an interior, which makes an interior feel balanced and stable. Gradation is the unit from increasing or decreasing of objects in size or color, which helps lead a viewer through a space. Contrast  is when objects are used next to each other that are contrasted by color, size or show, which gives energy and excitement to a space. Contrast can be smooth vs. rough, shiny vs. dull, light vs. dark, and round vs. square.  Transition is the smooth movement from one space to another, which guides people through a space.  Radiation is when several design elements are formed around a cent...

Gina Christopher Sketches this week: I choose to do two ink sketches because I wanted to do one inside and one outside. I really like sketching with ink because it doesn’t give you the opportunity to erase. I like this because it helps you learn how to adapt without erasing. I really like the outdoor street sketch!

 How do Cultures Influence Color? (Janet Miller) Culture: Culture is the customary beliefs , social forms, and material traits of a certain group. Individuals use color based on their backgrounds. Factors like age, gender, and physical limitations should be considered when choosing colors for certain clients. For examples, babies cry more often in bright yellow rooms and couples argue more in bright colored rooms. Children respond best to bright colors to help balance energy and create such as blue and red. The youth has a little more freedom and responds best to colors that enhance creativity and pop culture. Gen z/ Millennials are the most diverse and best educated age group. When it comes to color this is where they want to express themselves. They are influenced by tv shows and social media.
